OUR STORY

West Port was established in 2016. The founders; Colin, Khalifa and Shaunmet while studying architecture in Edinburgh. They were drawn together by their shared values and beliefs in the social and environmental good thoughtfully considered buildings and spaces can achieve.

Alongside our building work we strive to open up both the service and profession of architecture to many more people. At West Port we believe that for architecture to truly help improve the quality of our built, social and natural environments it must broaden its audience and work harder to involve all members of society in its activities. It is therefore our endeavour to develop our practice in a direction that allows us to be approachable and accessible to many.

We hold that expending energy connecting architecture with the vast diversity of people it affects can only lead to the creation of more sustainable buildings and places.

We are as excited by new work as we are by opportunities to learn from others and share our knowledge. As part of our desire to hear more voices participating in shaping their homes, neighbourhoods and cities, we are proactively involved in leading public workshops, exhibitions, tutorials and events. These we do via in-house initiatives and in partnerships with organisations sharing our ethos. We also provide mentorship and short -term work experience opportunities for individuals interested in pursuing a career in architecture.
